Take Charge Of Errant Files And Folders!

If you are like most people, you have hundreds of important files throughout the hard drive. It seems that there is no universal way of handling these files and folders. Fortunately there are some simple things you can do to manage and organize all their work.

1. Keep it simple. If you have multiple clients / customers / patients who require further information about them stored outside their usual database, create a file folder of information and use the same naming conventions on all files. For example: You can use the first three letters of a last name followed by 01.

2. Numerical files can be sorted numerically. When dealing with digital files, be sure to add a first zero before the number 1 or 2. For example: If you have a file called customer10 and another file called customer1, the file is sorted first customer10 is sort by name. This can be really annoying. However, if customer1 is renamed to customer01 it will take care of the problem.

3. The astonishing Windows Run command. If you have Windows 95 or higher, you get a nifty run command. In our tests, run the command will open any file or folder in the Windows folder and any other folder locations specified in your Autoexec.bat. These are known as paths. Paths are a common folder in the Windows System folder. Paths can also be C: Program Files Microsoft Office. This means that in the Run window, you can enter " " excellence and Microsoft Excel will open. You can also open folders. Just enter the name of the folder and it opens right up. Typing & 39; calc & 39; in the Run window and press Enter; Calculator opens. Very cool! Poke around and see what else you can do with the Run command. You can access by clicking Start and Run Run.

4. Working with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. Speaking of Excel, is easy to work with different sheets within the same work. Think of work as the single file *. Xls. When Excel starts a new job, you have Sheet1, Sheet2, and Sheet3 at the bottom of the screen. You can right click on any one of these leaves and rename them for anything else. Simply click the left button to take Sheet Sheet.

5. Working with Microsoft Word documents. It& 39;s easy to add comments and review page numbers for Word documents. Review comments are important if you are working on a document that should be seen by several people several times. For example: A small to medium project. Developers use version numbers to track their software, the same should be done with Word Documents. To open the header or footer of a Word document, click " See header and footer ". Then click on the & 39; Switch between header and footer " button to switch between the two. Click on the Insert Page " number & 39; button to automatically add page numbers to the document. (It would be embarrassing to give a technical presentation without page numbers. Yours public lose confidence in their presentation, not to mention the editor of your abilities.) Then you can add comments revision. Just type & 39; Rev. The & 39; below the line that has the page number or any comments you want.

6. Finally, it has been ever inside a folder and you can not find a sub-folder or a file? Well, it is very easy to obtain the files and folders to shape up. Click " View Arrange Icons By & 39; and choose an option. This will get the faltering folders and files to back on line! megan jani
